A respected San Francisco senior care resource for over 30 years, Institute on Aging's services are intended to help seniors and adults with disabilities remain living in their homes as long as possible. We know that in order to remain at home many of our clients are cared for by a family member. Our services surround the care situation, supporting both the senior and his or her caregivers. With you in our community, we are all richer. Let us help you keep it that way.

IOA's Areas of Service

Memory Assessment & Care
IOA provides medical and psychological assessments to determine the cause and extent of memory loss. Once assessed, services such as in-home care, adult day programs, and estate planning financial services may be recommended.

Geriatric Health Needs Assessments
A comprehensive health assessment by medical and psychological professionals can help provide clarity when symptoms, illnesses or medications overlap. Assessment services and findings are followed by Care Management services. A Care Manager will help you coordinate the variety of care and services necessary to maintain the health and stability important for independent living.

In Home Care & Assistance
In-Home Care ranges from assistance with shopping and bookkeeping, to personal care and hygiene assistance, to skilled nursing care. It is a valuable resource for both seniors and caregivers. Services provided allow seniors greater independence, healthier lives and companionship. Caregivers receive support where they most need it, in the home.

Adult Day Programs & Health Services
Changes in life, whether through aging or disability, may produce isolation. Adult Day Programs offer social interaction in a safe, healthy environment. Connection with the community and with other seniors and adults encourages good mental health and enjoyment of life. In addition, for those with ongoing health care needs, some of our programs provide on-site health services.

Caregiver Resources
Caring for seniors and adults with disabilities requires constant attention. IOA offers many services that provide respite from this important, but often overwhelming, effort. Adult day programs and in-home care provide time for caregivers to focus on other areas of their lives. Support groups and counseling services offer a place to be encouraged and emotionally supported as you serve your loved ones. Health and needs assessments and care management services remove the burden of staying on top of complicated, overwhelming and often growing health needs.
