We all want to live in our own homes as we age. However, memory loss and chronic health conditions create significant challenges. IOA’s Ruth Ann Rosenberg Adult Day Services provides many of the services adults need to remain living at home. Our day program offers a fun, engaging, and social atmosphere, together with personal care assistance, support services, and transportation to and from your home. We have specialized training and services to compassionately serve adults with frail physical health and memory loss. Our care is consistently high, and backed by a solid reputation of more than 30 years providing care in the day program setting.
A big thank you for all the years of wonderful service to my family that IOA has provided. I really don't know how I could have survived this ten year journey of caretaking, along with being a single mother to my young son, without you.— Daughter and Niece of Adult Day Services clients
Respite For Caregivers
Caring for an older loved one is a 24/7 responsibility. To maintain the spirit and quality of this care, caregivers and those they are loving need respite. Ruth Ann Rosenberg Adult Day Services provides a safe, caring place for seniors and disabled adults to spend a few hours a week outside the home. Creative activities stimulate the mind, as do conversations with staff and with other seniors. Birthday celebrations, meals together, exercise...we offer necessary support and care to elders and their families.

In 1975, Dr. Lawrence Feigenbaum spearheaded the initiative to provide frail adults with an alternative to nursing home placement. The Mount Zion Hospital Adult Day Health Center was born, the first community hospital to provide a program enabling people to receive the services they need while continuing to live at home. Incorporating in 1985 as a separate non-profit organization, ADHC (now Ruth Ann Rosenberg Adult Day Services) became part of Institute on Aging, which has grown to become one of the Bay Area's largest providers of community-based services for seniors.
