The SF Elder Abuse Forensic Center provides a crucial meeting point for agencies that assess, investigate, and prosecute elder and dependent adult abuse. By helping key elder abuse agencies to collaborate, the Center improves each agency's response to incidents of abuse. This invaluable consultation between elder abuse experts helps each agency determine the best course of action with regard to specific cases. In bringing critical resources together, the Center enables city, county, and senior health agencies to prevent further abuse and better serve San Francisco's vulnerable senior and dependant adult population.
public/private partnership
The San Francisco Elder Abuse Forensic Center is a public/private partnership between the City and County of San Francisco and Institute on Aging. The Forensic Center is housed in the Department of Aging and Adult Services. The Forensic Center program is made possible by generous private foundation funding from the Archstone Foundation and the True North Foundation and through support from the City and County of San Francisco.
What We Offer
The Center co-locates experts from each of the agencies crucial to managing elder abuse cases, and provides the venue and mechanism for rapid and efficient collaboration. The team provides multi-agency case reviews and action plans, and conducts in-home medical and mental status evaluations, evidentiary investigation, and multi-disciplinary consultation. By working closely together, they better understand, identify, and treat elder abuse, and determine more effective ways to ensure successful prosecution of elder abuse cases.
